The history book will be checked out for the entire year. Please leave it in a secure location at home. Books will be available in class as they are needed for class activities. Books will remain in much better condition if they are not carried back and forth between school and home. Any other books or resources used in class will be available during Academic Assistance after school (this includes literature, grammar and vocabulary books, novels, and copied readings). Some readings might be temporarily assigned to students for use at home depending on availability. Students are responsible for the return in good condition of any books taken out of the classroom. Please carefully fill out the text condition report for all assigned texts.
Our history text is The American Nation: Beginnings to 1877. As a class we will read three novels: The Light in the Forest by Conrad Richter, Animal Farm by George Orwell, and Lyddie by Katherine Paterson.
