Decades Project

At the end of the term students will work together in groups of four to research a decade in the 20th Century. They will present their project to the class at the end of the term (see calendar for specific dates for each group).

You will work together as a group of four to gather and analyze information on your topic.  We will spend four days researching in the library, with two in the media center and two in the computer lab with Internet access.  You will also have a short day in class to finalize your presentation.  You will be graded on your effort, ability to work as a group, presentation, as well as the materials you produce (see grade list).  Grades will be given by the teacher, other members of your group, and other class members.  Your presentation should last twenty minutes. Presentations will given to the class on Monday  and Tuesday, May 22nd & 23rd.  Check the website for specific dates.  These are the days scheduled for final exams school wide and you must attend to receive credit with your group.  This project should be enjoyable as well as informative.  Have fun and be creative!

RESEARCH AND PRESENTATION TOPIC:

You should examine this topic in the following areas: foreign relations, domestic concerns and policies, cultural life (music, art, food, theater, literature, etc), advances in science and technology (especially those that affected everyday life), and political influences.  Your presentation will last 20 minutes (no less, no more) and should leave the class with a clear understanding of your time period.  You may structure your presentation any way you wish, but be creative and fun.  You must include music, a visual, and a handout.  Handouts must be submitted for copying no later than 8:00 a.m. on Friday, May 19th or you will be responsible for making your own copies outside of school.  You may use any class equipment during your presentation including the overhead, tape/CD player, and DVD/VCR.  Any other needed equipment must be arranged for in advance.  Presentations will be made in chronological order as indicated on the class Website.
